It’s that time of the year when nearly every shop is playing old or new Christmas songs. It’s that little extra that creates the holiday spirit and atmosphere. This time around we’d like to introduce a very special Christmas song.
So many people have emigrated over the years and not all of them are lucky enough to come back home for Christmas. Being away makes you go “Awww” every time you see a picture of nicely lit up Grafton Street online. This is a very special song for those who can’t make it home for Christmas. ‘I’m coming home’ is a dedication to the thousands of Irish forced to emigrate in the current economic climate.
The video, filmed on a cold December evening last year, features the magical lights and atmosphere of Grafton St at Christmas time, a sight instantly recognized by Irish people all over the world. It also features messages from abroad from emigrants, sending their love home to family and friends.
The song was penned by singers- songwriters Shane Davis and Keith O’Brien and subsequently recorded by the two songwriter’s bands, The Jigsaw Jam & Keith O Brien. Both songwriters are Dublin based and regularly play gigs in Dublin’s City Centre including Grafton’s St ‘Zodiac Sessions’ in Bruxelles.
