Christmas lights on Grafton Street, Dublin are to be switched on this Thursday, 14 November at 5.30pm.

Henry Street and North Earl Street’s Christmas lights will be switched on at 4.30pm on the 17th November
and the Christmas tree lights on O’Connell Street will be switched on by Mayor Oisín Quinn on the 24th November at 4.30pm. is asking the public to get their cheesiest Christmas jumpers out and turn up on O’Connell Street to see if they can break the world record for the most Christmas jumpers worn in the same place at the same time, in aid of charity of course and beat the current world record of 583 – So come on folks!

About Grafton Street

Grafton Street was named after Henry FitzRoy, The 1st Duke of Grafton, he was the illegitimate son of Charles II of England who owned land in the area and was developed from a country lane by the Dawson family in 1708, after whom the parallel Dawson Street is named.

Grafton Street runs from the top of St. Stephen's Green to (Trinity) College Green.
